eclipse

This was my first attempt at astrophotography. My Dad had an old 8” Cassegrain telescope that I mounted my old Nikon DSLR on. The eclipse lasted for about 2 minutes as it passed over Idaho Falls, ID. It took me the entire two minutes to figure out the right settings for aperture, ISO, shutter speed, etc. Finally, right at the end of the two minutes of totality, I got this picture just as the sun began to peek out the other side of the moon. If you look closely, you can see the rough surface of the moon silhouetted by the emerging sun along with the massive solar flares.
