My grandmother, Elizabeth Stocker Rowell, the young woman on the right, was 15 years old when she became a member of The First Church of Christ in Bradford (Haverhill), Massachusetts. The young woman on the left is her best friend, Florence Rowe, who was also around the same age. They went to the same church, lived in the same neighborhood, and went to Haverhill High School together in the same grade.
