The John Lennon Wall, initially a simple city wall, became an icon of peace and freedom after the death of the English singer in 1980. Young people in Prague filled it with graffiti, challenging the communist regime. It is now a universal symbol of peace, owned by the Knights of Malta in Prague, and despite attempts to erase it, it persists as a place of expression and a political and tourist landmark. In 2014, street artists painted it white, but the message "The war is over," celebrating the fall of the Berlin Wall, appeared on the white wall.
