The memorial dedicated to the memory of the 65000 Austrian Jews murdered by the nazi regime between 1938 and 1945. The handles on the doors are missing, meaning that these doors will never be opened. The terrible crime is irreversible, the loss immense. The memorial (Mahnmal) is the work of British artist Rachel Whiteread. I think the artist visualised very well the sadness and unimaginable of what happened.
