The Empire State Building is a skyscraper located at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and West 34th Street, in New York City. It was the tallest building in the world for forty years, from its completion in 1931 to 1971, the year the construction of the North Tower of the World Trade Center was completed. Following the destruction of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, the Empire State Building once again became the tallest building in New York City.
