In common with much of the Waikari and Weka Pass region, Pyramid Valley in North Canterbury, New Zealand is home to many limestone formations, including some of the most accessible. Limestone is very porous and full of cracks and fissures that allow plants to grow on the rock, like this isolated and exposed Cabbage Tree (Cordyline australis).
