We were riding our bicycles home after zigzagging our way across rice paddies to access the rock climbs spread around the Yangshuo countryside. We stopped alongside the road to take a dip in the local swimming hole and watched as the sunset intensified into a smoldering fire. A lonely hot air balloon meandered by buoyed as much by the humidity as anything else, I guessed. When our eyes were filled to the brim we raced back through town weaving through traffic to make sure we didn’t miss happy hour to cap off one of the greatest days ever.
